Season to be Sick

Now, really. Why must our kids get sick at the most inopportune times? Right after I use my last few hours of PTO, Gabe "decides" it would be a great time to get Influenza A and "pink eye." Now, as far as the pink eye, I beg to differ. There hasn't been any gunk or anything and we have been using the drops since Monday night to no avail. At the time, he was so sick, so I didn't question the Dr., I just wanted him to get better. But, now that I think about it, I am sure that I could have found more productive ways to use that darn $45 copay for the eye drops. And did I mention the $45 for the Tamiflu and $25 for urgent care? What do I have insurance for again? I mean, I guess it could be worse....but that medicaid is a god send. Free visits and free meds....what a bargain. Wish he still had that! I know you hear me on that, Shana...But the poor guy, he was so sick, he wasn't eating anything and barely drinking and just sleeping every minute away. I told him on Monday night that he couldn't sleep in his bed unless he ate something and drank lots of water. The Dr told us if he didn't drink anything to take him to Children's immediately and I wouldn't have been happy with that $100 copay...so I tried to let him pick out whatever he wanted to drink at Walgreen's, but he didn't even turn his head. He wouldn't talk at all....he was like a zombie. It really scared me. He had never been that sick before. But, by bedtime, he was a little bit better. Talking a bit, drinking his water, and had a few bites of hotdog (that's what he wanted). Yesterday, he still slept a lot and ate a little more and before I knew it, he was back to his regular self. He wanted me to open something for him and I told him that I didn't have any scissors. He informed me that he could open it b/c he had "strong arms and hands" b/c he "ate a lot of fruit". LOL. Always crackin' me up.

On the other hand, I am preparing for lots of laughs this weekend in Iowa with my seester! I could totally just hang out at the hotel with family and be totally happy. I can't wait to see Ms. Aubrey walk. I got her some pretty cute clothes. I think that mommy and daddy will be happy with "sass." This time, Kim and Mario are going too, so it is definitely going to be a fun time. Too bad it's only for one day. Even if it was for a month, it still wouldn't be long enough. Like I have always said, maybe someday we will all live closer. Until then, we will cherish every minute together....unless we have a bickering sister moment, which luckily, these days, is few and far between. Hugs and kisses till then Fritz family. See you soon. Love to all of you. XOXO.

Oh, and back to apartment hunting, we found the place we are moving into. They are called Southwind Villas. They are still in Papillion, I think, so I am very happy for that. Not too much traffic! :) Here's the link...

We are putting down our deposit today on the 1,180 sq ft. floorplan. We like it b/c it is 2 floors, which makes it seem a lot bigger. The only things I don't like are that there's not a linen closet and the closets in the bedrooms aren't walk-ins. But we get a full size W & D and the kitchen has a lot of storage. We also get a garage (YAY). I'm pretty excited to have a fireplace w/o having to forfeit living room space (it's in the corner). I wish we had Prairie Rose here, b/c thier floorplans are so much bigger for the same price!

Well, everyone have a great rest of the week and be careful in all of this snow we are all getting! Happy Valentine's if I don't talk to you before then....XOXOXO

Life is What You Make It!

For those of you who don't know, Brett and I have gotten back together and things are GREAT! I am much more easy-going then I was before. He is more caring and affectionate. We each have made our major improvements in order to be happy and together. We really care a lot about one another and would like to be together for the long run. We have decided that this is the "new us" and we don't really talk about how things used to be or bring up past arguments. We haven't argued once and find it very nice to just enjoy each other's company. Imagine that! Brett bought me flowers and took me out to dinner. Check these out. The bouquet was HUGE!

The "lilies" (I think that's what they were) bloomed for almost a week and a half. The smell permeated my apartment and I was anxious everyday to see what had bloomed since I'd been gone. When they bloomed, they were as big as my hand! (This pic was taken before the "lilies" bloomed)

So, since we have found that it really is easy to get along, we are taking the next step and checking out apartments. We went and toured three different properties and have a pretty good idea as to what we want. This one was our favorite and the location is perfect! Check it out...

We like floorplans B2 and B3. I think we are still weighing our options as far as what's out there. I checked the reviews on this community and they were great!

As far as it goes with the little guy, he is funny as always. My mom buys him all these toys and then tries to get him to take them to our place. I'm always telling her that "we don't need any more junk then we already have." Last nite, my mom showed gabe his new coat that she got him and he told her that he can't have it b/c "mommy says we don't need any more junk..." LOL. Thanks Gabe!

Yes, I am still alive!!!

Well, you know it is hard to post all the time when I don't have the internet. I have to take my chances at work or take some of my "ME" time and go to my mom's. But, anyways...

Not too much to write about in my world. I had a pretty good New Year's. I was up for 26 hours straight-that alone will make you feel intoxicated! I plan to not do that again! Umm...Gabe is growing everyday and gets funnier by the minute, literally. My job is driving me crazy b/c I have a strong dislike for my direct supervisor. But, that's a long story. The weather has been ok lately. COLD. I am waiting for it to heat up and melt all the ice that we have had everywhere for weeks. At my apartment, the space between the cars is filled with ice. It is very scary when you have a little one and heels on! So, I hope that it melts or that someone does something about it (not to mention the fire extinguishers that haven't be checked since 2001). I hope all is good for everyone and that we all stick to our New Year's resolutions! (Note to self: What is my resolution?) XOXOXOXO

Merry Christmas!

Ok-prepare yourself for my once-a-week post! Here it comes...

Well, to start the day off, Gabe woke me up and I let him open a gift-DJ from the Cars movie-you know, the blue one that plays the music that puts Mack to sleep and makes him go off of the road...It's basically the only one he didn't have. He was pretty psyched.

I then decided that the cat box was long overdue for a change and I might as well change it b/c the trash needs taken out, too. So, needless to say, by the time I was done with everything, I had three trash bags to take out. Yay. I stuffed the car with everything that we needed to take to "Ganny's" and we were off. I bought a carwash last night, but the line was outrageous, so I thought, "What the heck...there's a chance that it might be open on Christmas at 8:30am and what'd ya know....IT WAS OPEN! I was pretty proud of myself that I didn't even wait in line! Weather-wise, it was supposed to be a high of like 34 and it got up to 51 and sunny! Beautiful! Unfortunately, my clean car didn't like the wet roads and now is no longer clean, but a LOT better than it was (I couldn't even tell my lights were on at night!). And one last thing to add about this morning...how can McDonald's NOT be open? Just b/c it's Christmas doesn't mean people don't eat breakfast! To McDonald's: "I'm NOT lovin' it!"

So, I took as many pics as I could of Gabe opening his gifts...

Look at this HUGE stocking Bob got for him!

Gabe made out pretty good this Christmas. Way too much stuff-he got a TV interactive bike, train table, Cars play rug, Hot Wheels crash track, and much more. Thank goodness not all that stuff is going home with us (the advantage of having Grandma live close)!

Also, the other day, Gabe and I dug into the fingerpaints. Dad and Deb sent him this stuff a long time ago and we FINALLY put them to use (sorry it took so long Dad and Deb!). Here are the pics of how much fun we had!

And as far as cute pics go, I took this one of Gabe sleeping the other night...

And this one of Sampson today...(click on it and look at his tongue)

Hope that everyone had a great Chrismas...and that everyone cold be here so we could go out for a family dinner on my birthday :( Love you!

It's Official

(I meant to write this in my blog last night, but wanted to add a pic that I didn't have at the time)

Our Von Maur store will be reopening Thursday! There will be a ceremony inside the mall before the store opens at 10am. After the ceremony, the public is invited to help take down the memorials. The Douglas County Historical Society will be there to preserve all the items until it is decided what will be done with them. I am so excited that they decided to open again and just in time for Christmas! It is unknown at this time whether or not the third floor will be open to the public (that's where it all happened).
As of Monday, the United Way has gathered more than $312,000 from Aflac ($100,000), local business, generous people, and also from 33 states for the victims and their families. Woo hoo!
Also, I wanted to post this picture. I think it is absolutely beautiful. For those of you out of state, the store can be seen from the interstate and is so pretty and peaceful. Looking at it from afar, glowing with Christmas lights, you would never think such a thing could ever occur here.

I think the beauty of it is heightened by the falling snow...neat, huh?

As for the home life, we went on a boot hunt last night and what do you know....they are almost sold out of every size of every boot. Geesh. Doesn't anyone procrastinate anymore?! LOL. I thought these boots from Target were adorable, but apparently cute isn't cool...

Can you picture Gabe sporting these? Well, I guess we will keep hunting for the "perfect" pair of snow boots (even though he will be grown out of them next year!) And yes, I am aware that the frog ones are rain boots, but they would have gotten the job done and been cute at the same time!
